Job Description:

• 1) Caulks seams between planking in hull or deck of wooden ships or boats to make them watertight by either of following methods: Guides caulking tool that automatically forces caulking material into seam.

• 2) Hammers material into seam, using tamping tool.

• 3) Heats marine glue in melting pot.

• 4) Fills glue runner with glue and guides runner along seam to fill seam with glue.

• 5) Removes excess glue, using scraper.

• 6) Pushes cotton line and hemp rope into seam and hammers them in place, using caulking iron and mallet.

• 7) Smears hot pitch over seam, using mop, or spreads putty in seam.

• 8) May hammer old caulking from seams, using reaming iron and mallet.
