Job Description:

• 1) Tends machines that mix ingredients, such as pigments, resins, varnishes, solvents, and oils to produce ink or ink paste: Reads specifications to determine type and quantity of ingredients to be mixed.

• 2) Starts pumps to transport preweighed liquid ingredients from storage tanks into containers.

• 3) Weighs specified amounts of pigments and adds them to containers.

• 4) Dumps contents of containers into rotary mixer, using hoist, or moves container onto bed of mixer and turns wheel that lowers mixing blades into containers.

• 5) Starts motor to mix ingredients for predetermined time.

• 6) Draws sample or scoops sample of solution for laboratory analysis.

• 7) Adds ingredients as directed by laboratory, or extends mixing period to attain prescribed consistency.

• 8) Scoops or pumps ink or ink paste to holding tanks or into containers.

• 9) May heat solvents in kettle or with steam coil to remove chill before adding pigments.
