Job Description:

• 1) Sorts and weighs nonferrous scrap metal and ingots for furnace charges: Separates grades and types of alloys by color or shape of casting and shovels metal into handtrucks.

• 2) Selects scrap and ingots for furnace charge, according to specifications.

• 3) Takes sample of furnace melts for laboratory analysis, observes metal in diecasting holding pots and finished castings, or reads label to verify use of specified alloys.

• 4) May unload box cars of alloy materials.

• 5) May operate lift truck to transport materials.

• 6) May charge furnaces with alloy materials.
