Job Description:

• 1) Tends equipment in furnace-process plant that produces carbon black by partial combustion of crude oil, natural gas, or mixture of both: Starts individual units, such as reactors, quenchers, precipitators, cyclones, pumps, compressors, and conveyors.

• 2) Turns valves to regulate flow of water in quencher, feed rate of fuel and air, and movement of accumulated carbon black through equipment, as directed by PLANT OPERATOR, FURNACE PROCESS.

• 3) Observes gauges and meters to verify specified temperature, pressure, and flow rates of materials.

• 4) Opens inspection ports and observes flow of product through conveyors to detect jamming.
