Job Description:

• 1) Tends can testing machine that automatically tests cans for leaks: Starts machine and observes operation of machine and conveyor on which cans are carried through machine.

• 2) Notifies supervisor of defective operation of machine or conveyor.

• 3) Verifies accuracy of test machine, using standard test can.

• 4) Places rejected cans on water tester and pulls lever to inject water into cans to indicate leaks.

• 5) Marks location of leaks for can repairer, using crayon.

• 6) May apply flux to inside of ear clincher or side seams of can, using flux applicator and reheat soldered seams under gas flame to seal leaks.

• 7) May reshape bent or dented cans on metal form with mallet.

• 8) May reheat soldered seams under gas flame to seal leaks.

• 9) Retests repaired cans.

• 10) May record number of cans rejected and repaired.
