Job Description:

• 1) Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in sorting and packing nuts, and inspects sampling of nuts to estimate percentage that will be marketable from each delivery: Selects random sample of nuts from each delivery, places sample in containers, and attaches identification tag to container.

• 2) Places nuts in drier to remove specified percentage of moisture.

• 3) Weighs nuts before and after drying and records weight lost.

• 4) Places nuts on perforated plate through which nuts pass into separate containers, according to size.

• 5) Cracks nuts and examines them for blanks, worms, and shriveled centers.

• 6) Segregates salable nuts, weighs nuts, and records percentage of marketable products.

• 7) May explain procedures for estimating percentage of marketable products to growers.

• 8) Performs other duties as described under SUPERVISOR Master Title.
