Job Description:

• 1) Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in forming, inspecting, and finishing pottery and porcelain ware: Directs workers in casting, jiggering, and finishing ware.

• 2) Sets up machine units, installs dies and shaping tools, and adjusts and sets controls of forming machines and equipment.

• 3) Adjusts controls on drying ovens to regulate temperature and drying time for ceramic ware.

• 4) Demonstrates to workers techniques in handling ware to avoid breakage; recognizing and evaluating extent of defects, such as cracks, chips, and pinholes, refinishing defective ware; use of grading and color charts in sorting ware; and rubbing ware surfaces with abrasives to remove rough spots.

• 5) Performs other duties as described under SUPERVISOR Master Title.
