Job Description:

• 1) Fabricates skis from wood, using handtools and powered machines: Cuts rough forms for skis, using electrically powered cutting machine.

• 2) Soaks ski forms in hot water until pliable and places them in bending frame for shaping.

• 3) Operates shaper to form ridges on top of ski.

• 4) Pairs skis according to size, weight, and grain of wood.

• 5) Sands skis and scrapes them with handtool to correct variations in thickness.

• 6) Operates shaper to form grooves on underside of ski according to type of ski, such as plain, racing, or jumping skis.

• 7) Finishes surface, using sandpaper.

• 8) May apply varnish or paint to finished ski.
