Job Description:

• 1) Provides special stage lighting and sight effects for theatrical performances and directs electrical crew engaged in installing and arranging lighting and wiring equipment: Studies work drawings of stage sets showing light details.

• 2) Confers with producing personnel and studies continuity script to determine lighting of sets and special sight effects desired.

• 3) Suggests changes and orders special mechanical stage contrivances to obtain mobile or stationary sight effects, such as forests burning, oceans rolling, or other scenic effects.

• 4) Attaches stereopticon lens on lamp and operates lamp from rear of stage to project pictures of desired effects on scrim, following cue sheet.

• 5) Directs crew in setting up and arranging electrical equipment and lights for use on stage and in theater.

• 6) May originate designs for artistic lighting of sets.
