Job Description:

• 1) Sets up and operates new sewing machines to test machine and attachments preparatory to shipment: Feeds piece of cloth into machine to test feeding action.

• 2) Threads machine and makes prescribed tension adjustments preparatory to test sewing.

• 3) Starts machine and sews sample piece of cloth, varying stitching pattern and type of stitch to evaluate machine operation.

• 4) Installs machine attachments, such as hemming, buttonholing, and shirring devices to evaluate operation of attachments.

• 5) Rejects defective machines and attachments.

• 6) May verify effectiveness of machine attachments, using detachable gauge.

• 7) May specialize in attachment testing and be designated Sewing-Machine Attachment Tester.
