Job Description:

• 1) Tufts yarn through backing material to fabricate carpets and rugs, using portable, electric-powered hooking device: Presses trigger of device to start reciprocating action of needle that punches yarn through material to form pile on rug surface.

• 2) Guides device along stenciled outline on backing material to tuft design in rug according to specifications.

• 3) Changes yarn color as specified by pattern.

• 4) May insert missing tufts in rugs.

• 5) May tuft rugs by hand, using hooked needle, and be designated Rug Hooker, Hand.

• 6) When tufting samples, is known as Sample Maker.
