Job Description:

• 1) Constructs mechanically functioning prototypes of toys from blueprints, using metalworking, woodworking, and plastic-forming machines and handtools: Studies blueprint design and selects stock material, such as aluminum, wood, styrene, and fiberglass, according to design specifications.

• 2) Lays out design of parts on stock, following blueprints and using measuring and drawing instruments.

• 3) Designs and casts molds from resin for use in injection-molding and plastic-forming machines.

• 4) Sets up and operates machines, such as injection-molding machine, vacuum plastic-forming machine, drill press, lathe, jointer, milling machine, and sanding machine, to cut, shape, and sand model parts.

• 5) Assembles and fastens parts together, using handtools, glue, bolts, nails, and clamps.
