Job Description:

• 1) Tends one or more lapping machines to lap surfaces of metal objects to specifications, usually on production basis: Starts machine and places workpieces in machine or engages automatic feeding mechanism.

• 2) Measures lapped workpieces for conformance to specifications, using instruments, such as preset comparators and surface plate.

• 3) May move controls to adjust lapping speeds, tool pressure, and length of machine cycle.

• 4) May assist MACHINE SETTER in setting up machine.

• 5) May be required to have experience with particular material or product or with machine of particular type of trade name and be designated Barrel Lapper.
