Job Description:

• 1) Inspects and tests small arm units during subassembly and assembly stages to ensure that mechanical action, finish, and assembly conform to specifications: Tests firearms for specified cocking and trigger action, using gauges.

• 2) Examines wood and metal parts of weapons to detect flaws in finish.

• 3) Pushes gauge through bore of gun to verify straightness of barrel.

• 4) Measures dimensions and clearances of components to verify conformance with specifications, using gauges.

• 5) Tests tightness of screws, bolts, and pins, using handtools.

• 6) Records on tags firearms rejected and reasons.

• 7) May be designated according to processing stage as Final Inspector.
