Job Description:

• 1) Performs any combination of following tasks pertaining to forming storage battery plates: Positions plates or elements in forming tank.

• 2) Breaks forming lugs from formed plates and pulls lead wires from lugs, using pliers.

• 3) Collects wires and lugs for salvage.

• 4) Cleans lugs on positive plates, using brush.

• 5) Washes formed plates to remove forming acid in running water bath.

• 6) Stacks washed plates on drying machine.

• 7) Stacks batteries in specified polarity arrangement on forming trucks.

• 8) Attaches connectors preparatory to forming.

• 9) Slides positive and negative plates into slots of partitions that prevent buckling during forming process.

• 10) Ascertains voltage of batteries, using voltmeter, and adjusts rheostat to regulate current.

• 11) Reads meter to detect deviations in discharge rate from prescribed range.

• 12) Removes connectors from posts and plates from forming tanks.

• 13) Dumps forming acid from batteries.

• 14) Refills treated batteries with finishing acid.

• 15) Pumps used forming acid to reclaiming tanks and cleans reclaiming tanks, using brushes, scrapers, and water hose.

• 16) May be designated according to task performed as Battery Plate Remover; Lug-Breaker-And-Wire-Puller; Plate-Put-In Worker; Plate Washer; Tank Cleaner.
