Job Description:

• 1) Suppresses forest fires, working alone or as member of crew: Fells trees, cuts and clears brush, digs trenches, and extinguishes flames and embers to contain or suppress fire, using ax, chain saw, shovel, and hand- or engine-driven water pumps.

• 2) Patrols burned area after fire to watch for hot spots that may restart fire.

• 3) When leading and directing fire-fighting activities of a crew of workers, may be designated Suppression-Crew Leader.
