Job Description:

• 1) Grinds and sands contoured metal surfaces to finish forging dies, using handtools: Selects abrasive tools according to operation and dimensions specified.

• 2) Manipulates powered hand grinder to remove bead, grind curved surfaces to specified radii, remove machining marks, and smooth die surfaces.

• 3) Sands surfaces of cavity and gutters to facilitate flow of metal during forging.

• 4) Manipulates handtools, such as files, stones, and emery cloth, to smooth surfaces.

• 5) Visually and tactually inspects surfaces for flaws and smoothness.
