Job Description:

• 1) Sets up and operates automatic machines to grind, mill, and secure shunt leads to carbon and graphite brushes: Reviews work orders to determine size, type, and number of brushes to be produced.

• 2) Installs grinding wheels, cutting blades, and tamping tools on machine shafts and turns setscrews to adjust cutting and grinding mechanisms and width guides according to specifications, using handtools.

• 3) Observes panelboard to detect and remove jammed brushes.

• 4) Verifies dimensions of brushes, using micrometer, calipers, and ruler.

• 5) May be designated according to machine operated as Concaving-Machine Operator; Heading-Machine Operator; Tamping-Machine Operator.
