Job Description:

• 1) Tends circular saw that cuts slabs, edgings, and short logs into pieces suitable for making sawmill byproducts, such as shingles, shakes and laths, or for fuel: Starts conveyor that moves slab, edging, or short log into cutting position against end stop.

• 2) Starts saw and moves saw to cut pieces according to requirements.

• 3) May set dogs or wedges to hold slab, ending, or short log in place.

• 4) May be designated Cut-Off Sawyer, Shingle Mill when cutting pieces used for making shingles.

• 5) May be designated Scrap Sawyer when cutting scrap lumber for use as fuel.
