Job Description:
- 1) Tends machines that stretch synthetic fibers in sliver or tow form to control elasticity and prevent uneven stretching during subsequent processing: Turns knob to set air pressure control on stretch rolls according to amount of stretch specified.
- 2) Guides sliver into feed rolls so that it passes over heating element, between stretch rolls, and drops into receiving can.
- 3) Pieces up broken sliver and replaces empty cans.
- 4) Doffs and weighs cans of stretched sliver.
- 5) May tend stretch box with crimping and steam-setting attachments.
