Job Description:
- 1) Tends machine that bevels edges of leather parts of articles, such as belting, gloves, wallets, cigarette and key cases, and handbags to prepare parts for joining: Turns setscrews to adjust gauge, guide, feed roller, and blade, to regulate angle of bevel.
- 2) Depresses pedal to start machine.
- 3) Positions part on bed of machine against gauge and beneath guide.
- 4) Guides part over feed roller that forces edge of material against blade to skive edge.
- 5) Sharpens blade, using emery wheel.
- 6) May pull leather strips across fixed cutting edge to reduce thickness and be designated Skiver, Hand.
