Job Description:

  • 1) Inspects mechanical and structural construction and installation, and monitors operational testing of aircraft catapults and arresting gear systems used on aircraft carriers, according to contract specifications: Examines system components, such as pumps, valves, cables, and air and steam lines for defects and faulty installation.

  • 2) Compares operational functioning with contract specifications to ensure serviceability and safety.

  • 3) Tests questionable components, using standard instruments and gauges.

  • 4) Monitors operational testing of equipment and assists in determining causes of malfunctioning equipment.

  • 5) Prepares reports of findings to facilitate modifications.
