Job Description:

• 1) Controls gas or oil fired soaking pit or reheating furnaces to heat sheets, blooms, billets, and slabs to specified rolling temperature: Ignites furnace burners with torch, and turns valves to regulate flow of fuel and air to burners.

• 2) Signals CHARGER OPERATOR to charge steel into furnace.

• 3) Reads dials and gauges, observes color of steel in furnace, and adjusts controls to maintain specified temperature in furnace.
